Proper Installation Is the Foundation of Gas Safety
Installing an IGT gas safety regulator on a domestic cylinder in Nepal is straightforward, but following the correct sequence is critical for a secure, airtight seal. All major LPG brands in Nepal—including Nepal Gas, Everest, Siddhartha, Sugam, Surya, and Koshi—use the standard 25.6mm diameter valve connection.
Tools & Equipment Needed
- Genuine Danish IGT Gas Regulator (25.6mm click-on model).
- ISI or certified reinforced gas hose (ideally steel-wire braided).
- Two stainless steel worm-drive hose clamps.
- Flathead screwdriver (for clamp tightening).
Installation Steps
- Prepare the Cylinder: Place the LPG cylinder upright on a level floor in a well-ventilated area. Remove the plastic safety cap or tear-away seal from the cylinder valve. Inspect the internal black rubber O-ring inside the valve neck to make sure it is not missing or damaged.
- Attach the Hose to the Regulator: Push the gas hose firmly onto the ribbed brass outlet nozzle of the IGT regulator. Slide the hose clamp into place and tighten it securely with a screwdriver. Do not over-tighten to the point of cutting into the rubber.
- Mount the Regulator: Ensure the black/red switch on the IGT regulator is in the OFF position. Lift the outer locking ring of the regulator collar with both hands. Place the regulator firmly over the cylinder valve neck and push down until you hear a distinct "CLICK". Release the locking collar; it will snap into place.
- Engage the Safety Lever: Rotate the control lever 90 degrees to the ON position. Press the excess-flow reset button beneath or on the body of the regulator once to charge the downstream line.
- Check Pressure Stability: Verify on the manometer gauge that the needle moves smoothly into the operational reading. Run a 2-minute zero-leak test before first ignition.
